Counselling + Consulting
There’s this weird assumption out there that says if you’re seeking therapy, then something must be really wrong. This isn’t true at all. People go to therapy for so many reasons – whether you’re going through a temporary struggle, want someone to talk to, or maybe you just want an unbiased, non-judgemental perspective. Therapy exists to help you maintain your mental health into the future, even if it’s just to pop in for a booster session every once in a while.
On the other hand, maybe you have found yourself here because you want help and relief. Maybe you’re here because you want to feel like you can breathe without the stress and the heaviness again. Well, you’re in the right place.
The human mind is an amazing thing – always finding ways to adapt and survive. Sometimes, we find ourselves in these automatic, instinctive ways of being that really work well for us.
Maybe a “no-BS” mantra helps you to feel strong and proud. Or a people-pleasing response helps you feel like you’re doing something good by making others feel good. Or maybe distancing yourself and keeping people at arm’s length helps you feel more protected, like you can’t get hurt. And maybe those habits really worked for you for a time. But now… not so much?
Let’s work together to set goals. Let’s take a look at what’s going on in your life right now and see what is or isn’t fitting into your personal agenda. What’s going on that has allowed you to survive and thrive? What’s changed and is now posing a problem? We’ll work towards goals and a final solution to give you balance.
Together, we will work so that you remember or “re-member” yourself. It can be so easy to forget who we are, or even feel like we never knew. And it can be even easier to stay feeling this way for so long because reaching out can be unsettling – trying things a new way can feel as though we are in this scary place of the unknown. Let me help you through it and understand yourself on a deeper level.
I will bring forth my skills across therapy modalities, as well as my honest personality accented with a touch of humour. I often bring creativity into therapy as music and movement can be helpful in processing. In the end, this all depends on you because each client is different and therapy is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Your time and your sessions will be customized to you.
